B.Z. Niditch: Poem
CRANE'S BEACH
Playing jazz and Bach
over and again
in your sparse nakedness
echoing notes in your ears
sex burns your laughter
effacing its own halo
wanting to be on the China Sea
with freehold sailors
in voyages undreamt by Narcissus
in far away aeons
writing on wind shafts
trampling memory and goodbyes
on sky diving paper lanterns
agile as linen in your notebook
by flesh-fire patches of light
you throw a glass
in a mirrored tantrum
when evening falls.
