Peter Magliocco: Two Poems
WHEN KIKI DANCED
when Kiki danced for Man Ray
flying fish somersaulted
over the Seine
in a breathtaking silver arc
& life returned to the
bridge statues
suffering from decaying verdure (until)
a later Ray-o-gram
consigned
Lee Miller's face & body for eternity
those free-form
shimmering fins despoiling
Kiki's rainbow-teeth eating nature's
excess
RIDERS OF THE STORM
think of solshenitzyns with an e-virus
cooing to a block
of ice
while some band of gypsies rides hellbent
into little cyberhood,
usa
looking for a good time beyond digital life, waiting
for the tower to
fall on you
in Pisa, knowing the earth-hold is tenuous
with voices in the
whirlwind
of red white and blue confetti streamers
pelting embattled
earth:
think of the dinosaurs in raining meteorites
trapped in this
game,
the joystick another whip on Pegasus' back
whose wings we plotted
on
