Alan Catlin: Poem

MY STRANGEST SECRET

When I was 12 I developed
cancers of the brain.
The first one spoke fluent
Spanish which was annoying
because i always seemed
to be flunking Spanish.
The second played nothing
but Ricky Nelson songs.
I was almost relieved when
his plane crashed but then
a replacement tumor started
playing new songs like
The Dead Wilburys, the first
side being songs by no longer
alive artists like Patsy Cline,
Roy, Elvis & John Lennon singing
the Single Fantasy Album,
that's the one with Yoko's
songs edited out. The second
side was by still living
artists singing about death.
It was called Night of the
Living Dead Wilbury's and
that tumor played it every day.
It's enough to drive you
crazy but you know what's
strange? I kind of like it.
