Manipulating Karma

Without consideration
for the costs, we spend
our free time rejoicing in
the way we've been
manipulating karma

: casting our lines in Buddha's
pond with clean hooks, we
snag golden Koi one by one.

Grinning at each other,
as we carve away each life,
rolling the remains into rice,
we serve each dish with
sake and plum wine
to disguise the bitter taste.
