Brown Bag

You were wrapping your arrogance in a bag
all afternoon.
You wanted to carry it with you
casually wherever you
dropped in.
It was the kind of conceit that could
make a brown bag glow.
All the idiots who hung out with you
suspected you had something
special in your cheap paper.
You put the bag on your head
and hyperventilated
into words
you had already forgotten.
